Hampshire County Council (HCC), with support from National Highways, will be undertaking major infrastructure works on the M27 between Junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 11 (Fareham) over the Christmas and New Year period.

The motorway will be fully closed in both directions from 8pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 until 4am on Sunday 4 January 2026 to facilitate the installation of a new dual carriageway underpass as part of the Junction 10 improvement scheme.

This one-off closure replaces months of phased restrictions and has been scheduled to coincide with lower seasonal traffic volumes. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A27, which is expected to be heavily congested during peak daytime hours.

We strongly encourage freight and logistics operators to plan ahead, consider alternative routes or timings, and stay informed via www.hants.gov.uk/M27-J10-xmas
