Following a series of news items shared to support members navigating the current disruption in the Middle East, BIFA is once again sharing further guidance with its members.

In the meantime the global freight forwarding organisation FIATA has shared the following guidance with BIFA regarding the current Middle East conflict:
This document looks in some depth at the challenges being experienced, and in particular the sections on quay rent/demurrage make interesting reading.
However, the reader should recall that the information is for FIATA’s broad global membership, and BIFA members may not be affected in the same way as overseas businesses because of differing legal systems.
The incorporation of the BIFA STCs into all contracts protects BIFA members from some of the contractual issues that have been quite rightly highlighted within FIATA’s guidance – for instance delays, re-routing of cargo and consequences such as “consequential loss.”
