An article published on the Loadstar website, which provides a summary of the changes taking place with the transition to the new shipping alliances in the container shipping trades between Asia and North Europe, should be of interest to anyone involved in that trade.

Given the information about ocean freight provided by the policy and compliance department within the trade association, the article is an interesting summary of the developing situation.

The article is based on new analysis from the maritime intelligence platform, eeSea and, amongst various findings, states that proforma scheduled liner capacity on the Asia-North Europe trade is set to be reduced by around 11%, once the transition to the new shipping alliance set-up is complete.

In contrast, it adds that the number of individual weekly sailings between Asia and North Europe is expected to increase, from the 26 offered by the previous alliances and standalone services to 28.
