A joint communication has been issued from HMRC and Customs and Revenue Ireland, setting out the customs requirements for hauliers when making indirect exports leaving Northern Ireland ports.

HMRC advises that the communications are intended to clarify the current position due to some issues seen with indirect exports.

BIFA has been asked to distribute this document to its Members, which covers the following:

  • Northern Ireland outbound requirements
  • Requirements for hauliers moving goods via Northern Ireland ferry ports that were declared for export in Ireland
  • Impact on declarants if the above process is not followed and the movement is not closed correctly
