BIFA has been contacted by the Highways Agency regarding the final full closure of the M25/A3 Junction 10 (Wisley). The Agency is particularly concerned by the higher volume of traffic during the most recent closure earlier in March. There is also information on the A3 being closed in April.
Please see message from the Highways Agency below:
Our final full weekend closure is 21 to 24 March – M25 junction 10 to 11
We’ll close the M25 from junction 10 (Wisley) to junction 11 (A320 Chertsey) from 9pm Friday 21 March and re-open it by 6am Monday 24 March.
Once again, we need to close the motorway for bridge demolition.
We’re urging drivers to think carefully about travel plans during this closure
There was more traffic on our diversion during our last full closure (7-10 March) than on similar closures last year.
If you’re travelling around Surrey between 21 and 24 March, please:
- only use the motorway and surrounding roads if your journey is absolutely necessary
- allow extra time and use alternative routes where possible
- make sure you follow our official diversions, not information from sat-navs.
Diversion
The local diversion route is the same for both directions:
Junction 10 to junction 11 – clockwise
If you’re travelling clockwise:
- you’ll be diverted from the M25 at junction 10 to join the A3 northbound
- at Painshill, take the A245, then the A320
- rejoin the M25 at junction 11
Junction 11 to Junction 10 – anticlockwise
If you’re travelling anticlockwise:
- you’ll be diverted from the M25 at junction 11 to join the A320 southbound
- then take the A245 to Painshill
- at Painshill, take the A3 southbound to rejoin the M25 at junction 10
Avoiding the closure by taking the M25 via the Dartford Crossing may also be quicker.

11 to 14 April – A3 closure
We’ll close the A3 in both directions between Junction 10 and Painshill Roundabout/A245.
The closure will start at 9pm on Friday evening and be lifted by 6am on Monday morning.
We’ll add details and diversion routes closer to the weekend.
Please remember that closures can change at short notice. You can check the latest information on our daily closures page or find live travel information on our Traffic England. Our travel alerts give details of live incidents on our network.
