BIFA has been advised by the Highways Agency of forthcoming long-term lane closures and a 50mph speed limit on the M42/M6 Link Road, near Water Orton in both directions from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2027.  The lane closures are in connection with the construction of HS2 rail-link.

HJS2 contractors Balfour Beatty VINCI continue with their ongoing construction work on the M42/M6 Link Road Viaducts, and they will be extending the existing long-term traffic management measures on both the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M42/M6 Link Road.

  • On the eastbound carriageway, the hard shoulder will be closed from the M6 southbound at Junction 4A to the M42 (both northbound and southbound).
  • On the westbound carriageway, the hard shoulder and one additional lane will be closed from the M42 southbound at Junction 8 to the M6 northbound at Junction 4A.
  • A temporary 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways for the duration of these works to ensure the safety of the road users and our workforce.

Further details can be found on the attached notification.
